George E. Tarnow, 126 Fourth street, Wilmette, one of the department heads at Wieboldt's store in Evanston, died last Friday morning at Alexian Brothers hospital in Chicago after an illness of four months. Mr. Tarnow had been a resident of Wilmette about eleven years. He was formely connected with Marshall Field's downtown store. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maude Tarnow, two daughters, Mrs. James Costello of Chicago and Vivianna of Wilmette, one son, Wesley of Wilmette, and two brothers, Edward and Herman, both of Chicago. The funeral Monday morning at St. Francis Xavier church in Wilmette was one of the largest ever held at that church, a glowing testimonial to the popularity of the man. Pallbearers were Frank Meter, Robert Fontham, Christopher Curran, Ray C. Pearson, William Mooney and Carl Schaeffer. Burial was at St. Joseph's cemetery in Chicago.
