Virginia "Ginny" Grandt (nee Dimmick), long time resident of Northbrook, passed away peacefully at her home December 19, 2009 at the age of 86. Virginia had a strong faith and believed in helping others, and she will be remembered for her loving, generous spirit. She graduated from Mundelein College in Chicago, and went on to pursue a masters in Children's Literature. She combined her passion for reading and reverence for children into a career as a teacher/librarian which spanned 22 years. Together with (the late) Clifford, Virginia had 11 children. She enriched their lives with music, books, an appreciation for all the beauty in nature, and the example of living the Golden Rule. She will be greatly missed by her ten surviving children and their spouses; her 41 grandchildren, and her 23 great-grandchildren. A 10 a.m. Memorial Mass will be held January 16, 2010 at St. Norbert Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Cognitive Neurology & Alzheimer's Disease Center, Attn: Margaret Zonca, 320 E. Superior St., Searle 11-499, Chicago, IL 60611.
