Jane O'Connell Connery was my mother. I think she was the first president of the Northshore Cancer Association. She also worked very hard for the Illinois Catholic Woman's Club along with her good friend Mrs. Thomas Webb Sexton. My mother and my sister, Nancy Connery conceived of and named the Presentation Ball. She had energy vision and drive coupled with a kind heart and wonderful sense of humor. It was my mother's example after the loss of my daughter Jennifer to Postpartum Depression that led us to co-chair with Mercy Hospital national medical conferences on perinatal depression. I gave her a hard time in my teenage years for her involvement in Charity work. Today I humbly wonder "Mom how did you do it all?"
