- Julie Gaynes became the first Trevian to be named Senior Gymnast of th eYear by the Illinois High School Girls Gymnastics Coaches Association. Only four athletes in New Trier school history have earned top-six state finishes: Julie Mitchell, Katie McDivitt, Kathie Orwig and May Schliessmann who all competed in the 1980s. New Trier's other qualifier, sophomore Monica Wolf, didn't advance Friday.
