Alice Sophia Hoffman (nee Thorngren), died January 28, 2010, at the home of her daughter, Patricia Howard (William) on Sanibel Island. She was 100.5 years old. Alice was born in Highland Park, IL, on July 8, 1909. Her mother and father, Olaf and Anna, emigrated from Sweden in the 1890's. Alice married Walter J. Hoffman in 1939. Alice and Walter raised their family at 2100 Dewes Street, Glenview. Alice lived with her daughter, Marsha Lauer (John) in Delavan Lake, Wisconsin. For 35 years she and her friend, Maryon Rettig, shared a home in Ammer Ridge in Glenview. In addition to her two daughters, Alice is survived by her grandchildren, Allison Howard (Allison Frei), Kristen Majercin (Michael), Thomas Auer; and her great-grandchildren, Alicia and Meghan Majercin, and Samuel Hamilton Howard. She was sadly preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Hamilton Howard. Alice had three siblings, Frank, Yerda, and Edith. She is also survived by her brother's children, Alan Thorngren, Lois McMillen, Richard Thorngren (Jean), and Rita Rushenberg (John).
