May 3, 7:15 p.m.: Wilmette resident Arthur Arfa leads First Monday Readers, also known as the Great Books discussion, in the Small Meeting Room. The readings are from the Great Books First Series. Details are at www.wilmettelibrary.info; look under Adult Programs. May 6, 1 p.m.: Wilmette resident Irving Cutler will present a program on "Changing Chicago," featuring readings and a slide show. He will also sign copies of his book, Chicago: Metropolis of the Mid-Continent. May 6, 7 p.m.: "Author Interviews are Like Blind Dates." Victoria Lautman, founder, host, and producer of the author interview series, "Writers on the Record," will share her experiences interviewing famous authors. May 11, 10:30 a.m.: Classics and Contemporary Book Club will discuss Moo by Jane Smiley. May 16, 2 p.m.: Elizabeth Strout will discuss her Pulitzer Prize-winning book, Olive Kitteridge, at the Wilmette Park District Community Recreation Center, 3000 Glenview Road, as part of the library's One Book, Everybody Reads community-wide reading event. Tickets required. May 18, 7 p.m.: Wilmette resident John Glavin will discuss and sign his novel, Trapped on the Wheel: Chicago's Columbian Exposition of 1893. May 24, 7 p.m.: Fourth Monday Readers will discuss The Man Who Made Vermeers by Jonathan Lopez.
