- Brauns, Kenneth Vernon A resident of the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (VA), North Chicago, passed away on Wednesday, December 22 at the age of 94. He was born in Chicago on July 8, 1916 to Vernon and Wilhelmina (Von Blumenthal) Brauns. Kenneth is survived by his wife Blanche (Black), to whom he was married for 60 years, children Margaret Ann, Brainerd, MN, Lora (Kent) Swanson, Evanston, IL, and Timothy (Mency), Boston, MA, grandchildren Carlos Poveda, Alana and Alex Swanson, and brother Ted, Plymouth, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Verne Grant and Elise Bauer, and brother Hollis.
