Sun- day win mark his first appearance before a north shore audience and h? C0"1,nS " expected to attract one of the largest audiences of the season. "Roger W. Babson was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, July 6, 1875, the son of Nathaniel Babson, a retired merchant and banker. After graduating from the Gloucester High school, he spent four years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technolo- gy and was graduated from the En- gineering Course in 1898. Starts Big Organisation His intention was to develop a re- porting system on railroad and pub- lic service corporations. His first work was with bond houses. For a year or two he was either directly or indirectly connected with them in the study of properties and the selling of securities. Mr. Babson soon found it to be a very difficult proposition to represent both the seller and the buy- er, and finally decided to cease being identified with any selling firm and to represent exclusively the purchasers of securities. With this idea in view he moved to Wellesley Hills in 1904, and began to develop the Babson Statistical organization to furnish statistical information and business I forecasts to its clients, who now num- ber over sixteen thousand. Considered Authority He is now devoting most of his time to the application of Newton's Law of Action and Reaction to fin- ance, industry and commerce; and to working out plans for the sociologi- cal and economic betterment of the world at large. The Babson Statisti- cal organization is prominently iden- tified with the development of the na- tion industrially and financially. In connection with *uch activities, Mr. Babson is well known in economic circles, His efforts to prove that hon- esty or ability cannot be produced by statute, and that legislation can- not permanently set aside the eco- nomic law of supply and demand nor Don't Forget provide a substitute for the rewards of thrift and toil have attracted wide attention. Special Music Program Miss Anne Slack, cellist, Miss Anna Nyberg, violinist, and Mrs. Marie Ed wards Von Ritter, organist, will pre- sent the musical program, which, in itself, should prove of unusual inter- est.
