Vollman, Susanna (née Reinert) (Died)

Funeral services were held on February 12 for Mrs. Benedict Vollman (Susanna Reinert), 430 Ridge road, a pioneer resident of Wilmette, who died on February 9 at St. Francis hospital in Evanston. Mrs. Vollman was buried in the cemetery adjoining St. Joseph's church on Ridge road, the same church in which she was married while the building was in the process of construction. Mrs. Vollman's father, Peter Reinert, was born in Broddorf, Germany, on May 5, 1816, and landed in America on May 5, 1853. Mrs. Vollman was married on May 5, 1880, and later one of her daughters, Anne was born on the same day in the month of May. When Mrs. Vollman's father came to Gross Point, now a part of Wilmette, he bought a farm at Ridge road and Wilmette avenue, where he died. Mrs. Vollman was born March 18, 1857, in the old family homestead, which was later torn down. Four children survive her. They are the Rev. A. J. Vollman, pastor of St. John's Catholic church at Johnsburg in McHenry county, and the Misses Elizabeth, Anne and Magdalena Vollman, all of whom live on Ridge road, Wilmette. Her son celebrated mass and a eulogy was given by the Rev. M. P. Widener of Chicago. The Rev. Henry Reinert of Independence, Iowa, was deacon of the mass. Monsignor James McGuire of Rockford representing the bishop of Illinois, attended the funeral.
