- John F. Hoffmann Jr., son of a pioneer Gross Point family and former Wilmette resident, died March 29 in Tucson, Arizona. Mr. Hoffmann, 73, was a descendant of Bartholomew and Ann Veronica Hoffmann, who settled west of Ridge Rd. after leaving their home in Denn, Germany, near the city of Trier in June 1844. He is survived by his wife, Marie G. (nee Braun), two daughters, Joan Fuller and Gerry Schaefer; a son, John F. III; 13 grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary D. Hoffmann and Elizabeth Kirk.
