- Alyce Hammond, former long-time Wilmette resident, died July 16 in West Palm Beach, Fla. Mrs. Hammond, 79, was the wife of Harold W., former owner of the Hammond Ice Cream Co. in Wilmette. She is also survived by a daughter, Doree Lorence of Mexico; a son, Norman B. of Iron River, Mich.; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a sister, Peggy Heinriches of Evanston.
