- Ruth D. Rooks, 70, of Wilmette died Sept. 8 at Evanston Hospital. The wife of the late R. Newton Rooks, she is survived by three children, Melissa Russell of Wilmette, Mary Rooks of Chicago, and John Rooks of Morris, Ill.; three granchildren; and two sisters, Marietta Kendall of Texas, and Elizabeth Akright of Oklahoma.
