Mrs. Maggie Clark Baker, who was born in Lake county, Illinois, 80 years ago, died at the home of her son, John Clark Baker, 347 Maple avenue, Saturday, March 22. Mrs. Baker was the daughter of John Clark, one of the founders of Northwestern university, and the wife of former Judge James Baker of the Missouri Supreme Court, who was at one time president of the Frisco railroad. Mrs. Clark was a prominent W. T. C. U. worker, and was an early president of the Frances Willard hospital. She formerly attended the seminary which several years later was merged with Northwestern university. Besides her son, John C. Baker, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. George E. Dickson, 1819 Hinman avenue, Evanston, and by the following relatives in Wilmette: Mrs. Lyman E. Drake, Mrs. Alden Pierce and Mr. [missing] Keith. Funeral services were held in the presence of relatives and intimate friends at the home of her son, Thursday, where she had made her home for the past several years, and burial was at Memorial Park.
