The public school reopens Monday.
There was a Salmagundi party given last Sunday evening at the home of Mr. S. M. Dingee.
Mr. Wilson, of St. Louis, who has been visiting with his daughter, Mrs. N. A. Hill, has returned.
Messrs. H. G. Drury and H. G. Sedgwick are among those who have been laid up with la grippe.
Mr. Mitchell, who is visiting with Mr. E. T. Paul, occupied the pulpit in the Congregational church last Sunday.
A barrell of clothing and reading matter was sent during the last week to Dakota sufferers by the citizens of Highland Park.
Rev. H. G. Leonard was away last Sunday visiting at his home in Minneapolis, and his place was filled by two students from Evanston.
Mr. and Mrs. White, who have been in Wilmette since the illness and death of their daughter, Mrs. Ed Shantz, left Monday for their home in Philadelphia.
Burglars entered the house of Mr. Chappelle Monday evening and helped themselves to an overcoat. They afterward appeared at Mr. Russell's, but were discovered and when confronted with a revolver decided to make a hasty retreat.
The annual meeting of the Congregational church was held in Royal Arcanum Hall Tuesday evening, Dec. 31. At eight o'clock those present partook of an elaborate dinner prepared by the ladies, after which the clerk, Milton A. Sherman, read his report. The next business was the election of two deacons to fill the two vacancies made by the moving away of Mr. C. W. Little and the decease of Mr. Samuel Mitchell. Mr. Field was [damaged] the place of the latter and [damaged] former. Then Mr. H. G. Drury was re-elected trustee and Mr. M. A. Sherman, clerk. Mr. H. E. Moore, treasurer, reported the debts all paid and $1.01 in the treasury. Mr. A. E. Burge was then re-elected superintendent of the Sunday school; Wilfred Beardsley was elected secretary and Hal Brown, librarian. There was a large attendance and all had a delightful time.- Media Type
