The new year has brought to our town a sad event in the death of one of the most popular young ladies in the neighborhood. After many months of suffering the death angel has taken a loved one from the heart of a family. Ida Amanda Bowman died of consumption at her home in North Evanston last Monday night, at 9 o'clock, at the age of 17 years, 5 months and 14 days. She was born at Marshalltown, Iowa, July 29, 1872. The deceased was one who was universally loved and her loss will be deeply felt by her many friends and relatives. As one who led an upright life too much cannot be said of her; She had lately undergone a most beautiful and satisfactory Christian experience. The funeral services were held in the Second M.E. church, the pastor, Rev. Mr. Dudley, taking for his text Jer. xv,9: "Her sun is gone down while it was yet day," After speaking in the highest terms of the respect in which the deceased was held, Rev. Mr. Bjork, pastor of the family, addressed the congregation in Swedish. Beautiful were the flowers, the last tribute to the departted friend, which were presented by her Sunday-school classmates. Her remains were placed in Rosehill cemetery. The public school had but one session, to allow the children to attend the funeral sevices. The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of the community.
