- Miss Celeste B. Murphy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Murphy, became the bride of James Gordon Murdock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel T. Murdock of Indianapolis on Wednesday morning. The ceremony was performed in the church of the Sacred Heart in Hubbard Woods by Father John Cavanaugh of Notre Dame. Mrs. Edward N. Hurley, Jr., sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and little Miss Jane Ripley was the flower girl. Alexander Gordon Murdock, brother of the groom, was best man, and the ushers were A. Bennett Gates of Indianapolis, William Nelson Plamondon, and the bride's two brothers-in-law, Lieutenant Edward N. Hurley, Jr., and Julius Thompson Benedict. George Ade was master of ceremonies.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving Cunard Black of Winnetka announce the engagement of their daughter, Charlotte Atlee, to Louis Livingston of New York City, son of Mrs. Robert Cambridge Livingston of New York and Islip, Long Island. The wedding will take place on Saturday, June 29 at Christ Church with the Reverend E. Ashley Gerhard officiating.
Mrs. Lillian D. Northam, 423 Tenth street, announces the engagement of her daughter, Dorothy Edith, to Leroy B. Hammond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy S. Hammond of 1 Crescent Place.
Engagement announced for Miss Harriett Lees to Louis Edwards, both of Chicago, at a "Mothers' Cozy," given at the home of Miss Dorothy Wilson, 727 Greenwood avenue.
Wednesday is Ladies' Day at Bob O'Link Golf Club. Mrs. W. A. Alexander of Highland Park is chairman of the entertainment.
The presidents of the ten federated Woman's Clubs of the congressional districts met Monday with Mrs. M. K. Armstrong, chairman of the clubs in Chicago.
Columbia School of Music, Clare Osborne Reed, director, held commencement ceremonies at the Auditoriuim Theater monday evening. Miss Elois Bedlan of Wilmette was on the program.
First Aid class under supervision of Dr. M. C. Hecht has been opened at the American Red cross rooms
Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Scheidenhelm have closed their home at 704 Lake avenue and left town to travel to Baltimore, Md. for the summer. Mr. Scheidenhelm is engaged in business for the government and must be near Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Henry J. Burt and family of 1027 Elmwood avenue left for the east to be with Mr. Burt who is in Washington, D.C.
Miss Hazel Browning of Lakeville, Ill., is the guest of Miss June Thrumston, 834 Sixteenth street.
Mrs. Theodore Breyer, 725 Washington avenue, is visiting in Peoria, Illinois.
Dr. and Mrs. C. C. Smith and daughter, Marjorie, 1425 Greenwood avenue, will motor to Lake Petoskey over the weekend. Mrs. Smith has had a guest, Miss Blanche Dusenbury of Kankakee, Ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sanford Clark entertained guests last Saturday evening at their home, 526 Washington avenue.
Miss Genevieve Grubb, 1027 Greenwood avenue, left this week to visit with Miss Lucille Metzler in Atlantic City, N.J.
Announcement of the marriage of Miss Elizabeth Tower, of Evanston, to Lieutenant Thorndyke Harvey of Camp Custer, Mich., on June 15.
Mrs. Burt Kincaid of Rogers Park has been visiting Miss Julia Requa on Washington avenue. Mrs. Requa is recuperating at the Evanston hospital from surgery.
One of the Tuesday Luncheon and Bridge Clubs was entertained this week at the North Shore Tea Room by Mrs. Fred White, 1101 Greenwood avenue.
Lawrence Wade, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Wade, of 1529 Charles Street, who enlisted at the Great Lakes naval station is now stationed at Harvard attending radio school.
"H. and W." Club met last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Van Dyke, 610 Washington ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Frederick B. Crossley, 600 [unclear] Washington avenue, have as a guest, their niece, Miss Mary Crossley and Miss Elizabeth Bullock of Honesdale, Pa.
Miss Susie Paulsen, 715 Washington avenue, is spending the summer in Boone, Ia. Mrs. W. B. Paulsen has gone to Montana to spend time with her daughter, formerly Miss Irene Paulsen.
Lysle Smith has been appointed to the quartermasters department at Pelham Bay, N.Y.
Ladies Aid Society of the Methodist Church will meet in the Navy League rooms next Monday afternoon.
Miss Lorraine McCue, 631 Washington avenue, has returned form National Park Seminary for summer vacation.
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Killen of Chicago announce the birth of a daughter. Mrs. Killen was formerly Miss Edith Cross of Wilmette.
Mrs. R. S. Baker, 1226 Ashland avenue, will be hostess to the Thursday Luncheon Club today at her home.
Howard Shurtleff, stationed at Camp Grant, is appointed sergeant.

Miss Edna Seng, age 12, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Seng, 401 Lake avenue, won scholarship for Marywood High School.
Mrs. Humphrey Bourne, 218 Ninth street, returned from a visit with her sister, Mrs. Clarence W. Bell, in San Francisco, California.
Mr. and Mrs. Skinner have rented their home on Central avenue and will spend the summer at their cottage at Fox Lake, Wis.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Boyd have rented their home at 730 Central avenue for the summer and are residing in Oak Park.
Wendelin C. Seng, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Seng, 401 Lake avenue, won gold medal for honors at Loyola Academy.
Mrs. B. J. Olwin and daughter, Miss Virginia, 820 Lake avenue, spent the past week in Peoria, Ill.
