- An issue of Marie Murphy School's newspaper, "Voice of the Viking," was sent to the American Scholastic Press Association to be evaluated. It placed second in the 500 students and under category. Newspaper staff: Sarah Goomar, Katherine Seol, Jessica Chong, Alex Kacprzak, Rae Lindenberg, Jackie Marschke, Sam Sherman and Kylie Stojentin, Hannah Heyworth, Kerrin Auh, Alice Chen, Wendy Geslewitz, Katie Grundin, Bomi Kim, Nicole Kofkin, Jenny Lee, Victoria McCurrie, Kunaal Mehra, Laura Park, David Resnick and Lori Resnik and Eva Koronis. Advisors are Kris Toenjes and Shannon Wright.

Eight Marie Murphy School students entered an essay contest sponsored by the Deerfield Optimist's Club. Josh Weitzel of Wilmette won first prize and Dallas Ginsberg, also of Wilmette, received best in class for sixth grade. Other participants were Alex Cusack, Leon Jones, Marcia Lawrence, Christian Martinez, Justin Parsawasdi and Ploi Vongkancom. - Date of Publication
