- Eighteen members of the Special Olympics team representing New Trier have advanced to the state finals at Illinois State University June 15-17 after the regional at Evanston Township High School last Saturday. They are Gary Berliant, Tony Bower, David Jonaitis, Sara Kulik, Josh Schwartz, Steve Anderson, Tom Balzer, Danny Dreeben, David Graver, Andrea Harris, Claudia Joehl, Merrill Kalin, Whitney Kellar, Kevin Kenny, Charlie Miller, Brian Reed, Michele Spector and John Stavropoulos. Paul Kerman, Joe Shirley, Steve Spector and Paul Treitman also scored top five finishes.
