Miss Isabel Dale, [number unclear] Central street, is convalescing from an operation for appendicitis.

Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Dawes adn family, 1800 Sheridan road, will leave on Friday for their home in Holland, Michigan, where they will spend the summer.

Miss Edith Mathis, who has been a teacher in the Frank P. Crandon school for the past three years, has resigned her position and gone to her home in Enid, Oklahoma.

Miss Fannie Bernhisel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Bernhisel, 337 Washington street, will be married Tuesday evening, July 14, to Frederick Quilling of Menominee, Wisconsin. Miss Helen Bernhisel will serve her sister as maid of honor and Mr. Paul Bailey [Balley ?] of Menominee, will be the best man. The ceremony wil be performed by the Rev. J. C. Schaefer of Freeport.

On Monday the wedding of Miss Dorothy Horning, daughter of Mrs. Minnie B. Horning, to George Alfred Baitsell of New Haven, Connecticut, took place at the home of the bride's mother, 6 [numbers unclear] Library street. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. B. A. Greene of the Chicago University and a former pastor of the First Baptist church. The bride, who was attended by her sister, Miss Helen Horning, was dressed in white crepe meteor trimmed in old rose point lace, her veil falling from a cap of the lace and orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of lillies of the valley and bride's roses. The maid of honor wore a gown of hand embroidered organdie with a yellow girdle, and carried a basket of marguerites. The color scheme of yellow and white in the decorations was carried out in the yellow and white daisies. Mr. George Francis Sadler of Pella, Iowa, served Mr. Baitsell as best man. Miss Alice Brown of Elgin, Illinois, played the wedding march, and following the ceremony Miss Irma Mae Hoag gave several vocal selections. Among the out-of-town guests were the groom's mother and brother, Mrs. J. A. Baitsell and Karl Baitsell, Miss Sorenson of Pella, Iowa, and several members of the faculty from the Frances Shimer school at Mt. Carrol, Illinois, where the bride was a former teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Baitsell will spend the summer at Woods Hole, Massachusetts, returning to New Haven in the fall.

Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kramer, 1008 Sherman avenue, announce the birth of a son on Saturday, June 20.

Miss Rachel Embree, 1910 Orrington avenue, will entertain at tea next Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock.

Mr. Charles Gale, Lincoln street and Elm avenue, left lat evening to spend the summer at Pelican Lake, Wisconsin.

Mr. Duke Banks, 1204 Sheridan road, left today for South America, where he will be located in business.

Mrs. Arnold Bennett Hall of Madison, Wisconsin, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Edward Middleton, 1719 Ridge avenue.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. De Golyer, 1745 Orrington avenue, have returned from Europe after a three months' trip.

Miss Katherine Morse, 1019 Michigan avenue, returned on Friday from the east, where she has been visiting for three weeks.

Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius John Causland, 1426 Elmwood avenue, have taken an apartment at 7363 Ashland boulevard, Chicago.

Miss Florence Ware, 1021 Judson avenue, wil lentertain at bridge Thursday afternoon, for her guest, Miss Rebecca Bigelow, of Boston.

Miss Esther Buck, Chicago avenue, and Miss Irene Lieurance [Lleurance ?], 610 Linden avenue, have gone to Yale, Michigan, where they will spend the summer.

Miss Bertha Beeman of the Northwestern School of Music, who has been visiting in New York for two weeks, will leave shortly for the Maine woods, where she will spend the summer.

Mr. and Mrs. George H. Moore, 2131 Orrington avenue, announce the engagement of their daughter, Ella Florence, to Addison Burns Phipps, also of this city. The wedding will take place in the fall.

Mrs. John Ellis, 2309 Sherman avenue, who sailed May 30 for Europe, wil spend the summer with friends in Scotland and Ireland, joining Mrs. Anne Coble Scott, also of this city, the 1st of September in Paris.

Dr. Walter C. Jones, 2309 Sherman avenue, has gone to Philadelphia to be installed a member of the American College of Surgeons, receiving the degree of Fellow of American College of Surgeons. On Tuesday and Wednesday Dr. Jones will attend the annual meeting of the American Medical Association.

Miss Kathryn Whitney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Whitney, Judson avenue and Church street, who has been attending Miss Capen's school, is now visiting in Boston, returning to this city the 1st of July.

Mr. James W. Dadley of Meriden, Connecticut, several days last week at the home of Frank O. Potter, 732 Simpson street.

Mrs. E. E. Hussey, 820 Foster street, announces the engagement of her daughter, Alice Elizabeth, to Mr. Clarence Reddig Leland. Miss Hussey has been connected with the administrative department of Northwestern University for several years and Mr. Leland is vice-president of the Lansing B. Warner Corporation. The marriage will take place next fall.

Mr. Edward Hall, who is in business in Louisville, spent the weekend at his home, 1729 Chicago avenue.

Miss Louise Tennis, 1629 [unclear] Judson avenue, returned on Friday, after a six weeks' visit in New York and Cleveland.

Miss Ruth Mitchell, [unclear] Central street, left Saturday evening for her home in Marion, Illinois, where she will spend the summer.

Mr. Clarnece Adams, 1127 Hinman avenue, returned Friday from Wisconsin, where he had spent several months on business.

Mr. and Mrs. George Walker (nee Bessie Hyde) of 1140 Florence avenue are spending two weeks with Mr. Walker's parents at Kinlock, Missouri.

Messrs. Wilder Bowers, Mills Wright, Ramsdell Lasker, Edwin Dawson and Wood Turner have returned from Cornell University for the summer

Prof. Guy Terry and his sister, Miss Minnie Terry, [unclear] Hinman avenue, have gone to their summer home in the Catskill mountains for the summer.

Mrs. Henry H. Hobbs, 849 Ridge avenue, will entertain at bridge tomorrow afternoon for her sister, Miss Andrews, of Yonkers, New York, and Mrs. Emmett Naylor.

Rev. Myron L. Norris and family, who have occupied the "King's Daughters' Home" at 2329 Hartzell street, this week, have gone to their summer cottage in northern Michigan.

Mrs. William J. White, [unclear] Hamilton avenue, accompanied by her daughter, Miss ANn Lindsay White, who recently graduated from Bryn Mawr, will sail July 1 for Europe.

Dr. David H. Stevens, 2705 Park place, sailed Saturday on the steamship New York for England, where he will spend the summer in study in the British Museum and at Oxford University.

Miss Dorothy Gross, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred H. Gross, 1100 Ridge avenue, have returned from Philadelphia, where she has been attending the Drexel School of Domestic Science.

Mrs. James Hibben, 908 Judson avenue, will return next Friday from New York. The many friends of her mother, Mrs. Dee, will be glad to learn that she is recovering from a serious operation.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Weeks adn son of Joplin, Missouri, will arrive in this city next Saturday, going from here to Lake Geneva, where they will spend a month with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Weeks at their summer home in Lake Geneva. During August Mr. and Mrs. Weeks will stay at Lake Forest with Mrs. Weeks' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Letts.

The wedding of Miss Alice Piersen and Mr. Lewis Cutler Clark of Indianapolis, Indiana, will take place next Saturday at the home of the bride's brother, Mr. William J. Piersen, 827 [unclear] Lincoln street. Dr. B. A. Greene, former pastor of the First Baptist church, will perform the ceremony at 6:30 o'clock. The only attendants will be the four nieces of the bride, Barbara, Joan, Jane and Ruth Piersen.

One of the most attractive weddings of the season was that of Miss Gladys Burns and Mr. John B. Hunter, which was solemnized last Saturday evening at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, the Rev. George Craig Stewart performing the ceremony at 8:30 o'clock. The churchwas beautifully decorated in peonies adn white daisies, the altar and chancel being banked in pink peonies. The middle aisle had a series of arches the entire length, which were wound in smilax and caught with pink peonies and daisies. The bride was gowned in white satin and with an overdress of white chiffon embroidered in silver butterflies. A flat wreath of silver leaves held the full tulle veil, which fell to the end of the court train and was caught with orange blossoms. A shower bouquet of lilies of the valley and swansonia completed the costume. The bride's attendants were dressed alike in gowns of taffeta and tulle in rainbow shades. Their Watteau hats matched the color of their gowns and were trimmed in pink roses. Long shepherdess crooks wound in pik and caught with large bunches of Killarney roses were carried instead of the usual bouquet. Miss Lillian Johnson, the maid of honor, wore a pale shade of pink, the matron of honor, Mrs. Killian Nicol [unclear], was dressed in light green, and the bridesmaids, Miss Eleanor Spry, was in yellow, Miss Bergin in blue, Miss Waldo in rose, and Miss Armour in lavender. The two cousins of the bride, Priscilla and Gertrude Grassie [unclear], were flower girls, and wore accordian plaited frocks of pink and blue. Mr. Harry Hunter served his brother as best man and the ushers were David Forgan, Edwin Adriance [unclear], Kenneth Burns and Horton Pushee, with Killian Nicol as master of ceremonies. Followint the service at the church, there was a large reception and dance at the Country club. Mrs. Hunter is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Harry Burns, 1216 [unclear] Judson avenue, and Mr. Hunter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fowler Hunter,1119 Judson avenue. Aftr Sept. 2 the young couple will be at home at [unclear] Ridge avenue.

Mr. Elliott Johnson, 1616 [unclear] avenue, is visiting in the east for [unclear] days.

Mr. Francis Knight, 12256 Asbury avenue, sailed on Saturday for Europe. Mr. Knight received his master's degree at Hotchkiss this June.

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Towne and daughter, Marry Williams, of New Orleans are visiting Mrs. Towne's parents, Mr. and Mes. W. E. Mariner, [unclear] Davis street.

Mrs. Charles Ward Northrup, [unclear] Hinman avenue, will entertain at a reception tomorrow afternoon at the Evanston Woman's Club for MIss Elizabeth Cass.

Mr. Lawrence Ortenson from the "Wrangler" house has gone to Ontario to spend the susmmer among the lakes with Dr. George Coe of Union Seminary, New York.
