- District superintendent Terry Porter said 200 trees were destroyed affecting every park in Wilmette. At least 76 trees were felled at the Wilmette Golf Club. The village's swimming beaches were closed after the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District opened the Wilmette locks Thursday evening spewing flood water and sewage into Lake Michigan.
