- Prior to 1900, all high school students living in Wilmette and towns north including Kenilworth, Winnetka and Glencoe, went to Evanston High School or to a small high school department held in the Winnetka Village Hall. In that year New Trier High School opened with an enrollment of 76 and a faculty of 7. In 1916 the enrollment is 650 with 36 teachers. History of various additions to the physical plant and educational offerings since 1900.
