Her mother, Sue Felt Kerr, is also an author and illustrator who wrote a number of children's books Mackey attended New Trier East and won the field hockey State FChampionship in her senior year; Wilmette writer Stacy L. Frueh has just published "Jonah Gets into a Good Book"; Perry Yeatman of Wilmette, co-authored a book with Stacie Berdan titled, "Get Ahead by Going Abroad: A Woman's Guide to Fast-Track Career Success"
