- Wilmette District 39 staff and Avoca District 37, under the legislation of the state of Illinois, provide free educational screening for preschool-age children who live in the District 39 or District 37 communities.
The purpose of the screening is to identify developmental delays in children.. Nurses also complete a brief vision and hearing screening.
This screening is not for advanced placement in school or for kindergarten readiness.
Three-, 4- and 5-year-old children who have not entered kindergarten are eligible for the preschool screening.
The screening is conducted by Wilmette District 39 at Romona School, 600 Romona Road, Wilmette. District 39. Residents of District 37 may contact Cindy Devin.
Preschool screening dates are: Friday, Jan. 9, and March 13.
