Work probably will be started on the Wilmette end of the new north shore intercepting sewer next week, providing all of the water mains, which are being changed to the opposite side of the street in Sheridan road and other streets through which the new sewer will be built, are in place. The R. J. McNichols COnstruction company has all of its equipment at the drainage channel and practically all of the track laid in the streets through which the sewer will be dug for the dinky engines and dirt trains to operate upon.
A [unclear] published in a Chicago paper that the village officials had prohibited the construction company from placing the temporary narrow-gage track in Sheridan road, was erroneous in every detail. The equipment is all in readiness and the first shovel of earth on this section of the sewer work probably will be dug within a short time. Both Sheridan road and Third street north of Central avenue have been closed to traffic while the work is being done.- Featured Link
