Bids on Library Building

Bids for the construction of the new public library were asked this week by the library's directors.
The bids will be opened in the council chamber of the Village Hall at 2 o'clock on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 25.
The new building is to be constructed on the present library grounds, at the northeast corner of Wilmette and Park avenues. It will replace the present structure, built in 1904.
Approved at Referendum
Bonds in the amount of $400,000 were approved at the referendum on the Plan for a Better Wilmette in Febuary, 1948.
Holabird and Root and Burgee of Chiago are architects and engineers for the library.
Members of the library board of directors are: F. Dewey Anderson,president; the Rev. Ross Cannon, Mrs. Bailey Shearer, George H. White, H arold H. Lundberg, and Mrs. H. G. Van Winkle. Former members who were active in teh development of plans for the library include Mrs. F. A. Cushing Smith, Mrs. Carl Hall, and Paul M. Plunkett.- Media Type
