The Masquerade ball given Friday evening at the Country Club proved to be as successful as its predecessosrs. There is always an air of informality about this dance which makes it one of the most popular of the year. The masques were removed after the grand march at 10:30. The costumes were all novel and varied; a great many of the men wore "yama-yama" gowns or sailor suites, while the costumes of the women were of a greater variety One of the most unique gowns was that worn by Mrs. James Baker, being made of The Daily News. The skirt was in three flounces with a beruffled waist, and a black tulle frill and feather comprised the head dress. Miss Helen Hancock, as a little Dutch boy, made a very attractive picture with her wooden shoes, blue bloomers and red shirt. Miss Ann Foley, a guest of the evening, appeared as a Highland lassie, while her hostess, Miss Eleanor Spry, wore a Spanish costume. Miss Sadie Buckley of Highland Park was one of the most attractive among the dancers in a Russian costume. Mrs. Arthur Cable represented the Czarina of Russia. Mrs. Marshall Rogers and Mrs. Horace Baker wore minaret gowns which were just alike. Miss Catherine Ross wore a quaint, old-fashioned gown, and Mrs. Frederick Connor was a farmer girl. Miss Dole, Miss Spry, Miss Helen Glenn, Miss Armour and Miss Johnson were in Oriental costumes. Supper was served at 12 and from then till the closing a "rag cotillion" was danced, bringing to an end one of the prettiest dances of the year.
