- Wilmette school children and their families raised $60,000 for the American Red Cross relief effort. Description of McKenzie School's efforts to encourage children to earn money for Haiti by doing chores. Comments by Principal Denise Welter. Special mention of brothers Christopher, 8, and Timothy Sciortino, 7, efforts to raise money. Wilmette Junior High School raised money through lunchtime bake sales.
