- Following the drowning of Robert Thurston, June 27, M.L. Greeley, chairman of the Commissioners of Winnetka Park District issued the statement that no child under the age of fourteen should be at the Lake Front park without an adult present. After the completion of the pier work, an experienced swimmer will be hired to work as a life guard.
