- 400 ministers attend Rock River Conference in session in Freeport, Illinois, this week. The Rev. Hugh H. Harris, assistant pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Evanston, has accepted a position in the Wesley Memorial church of Atlanta, Ga. Other clergy mentioned in the article include Rev. DeLoss M. Thompkins, pastor of the Rogers Park church, who wil lretire and move to Clear Lake, Wisconsin. The Rev. W. J. Libberton, pastor of the Sacramento Boulevard church, will not accept the pastorate of any church, but may continue in the conference in some other position. There will be discussion in the conference about reconsidering the decision to sell the property of the Wabash Avenue church. The Rev. A. A. Mohney will be reassigned. A successor is being sought for Rev. Claude B. Moore, superintendent of the Dizon district. Candidates include Rev. J. M. Phelps, pastor of Wesley church, Chicago; the Rev. J. Hastle Odgers, pastor of the Epworth church, Edgewater and the Rev. James K. Shields, secretary of the Chicago HOme Missionary and Church Extension society. Ministers engaged in other lines of church work who will return to pastorates are the Rev. W. J. Hyde, evangelist, and the Rev. S. H. Wirsching, superintendent of the Northern Illinois district of the Anti-Salooon league. The Rev. C. C. Lovejoy of Seneca, Illinois, who was principal of Jennings seminary, Aurora, will retire.
