The Wilmette public schools will open Tuesday, Sept. 3. The rooms have all been redecorated and the playgrounds graded and covered with cinders and fine gravel.
Mr. Louis J. Pierson and son, Leland, Mr. W. D. Armstrong, Dr. C. G. Smith and Bruce Thayer have gone on a two weeks' fishing trip at Lake Lac du Flambeau, Wis.
The children's open air carnival at Ravinia park this afternoon will be the last but one of the special programs which have been given at the park during the summer for the children. The grand march, which will start at 2 o'clock, will be led by the Allendale and Glenwood school bands. Lake Forest will then present the Y. W. C. A. camp fire girls in two dances - "Jumping Jacks" and a "Norwegian Barn Dance." Highland Park and Ravinia will offer two dances - "Maid of the Mist" and a "Matinee Dance" - by juniors of the Y. W. C. A. Winnetka's dances will be "Spring Song" and "Evening Star." Kenilworth, "The Dance of the Flowers," and Lake Bluff, "Japanese Dance" and "Russian Dance." The program will conclude with maneuvers by the Boy Scouts. Miss Jessie Powers will give her program of musical fairy tales Thursday afternoon, Sept. 5.

Dr. and Mrs. Lester E. Mee, 1027 Greenwood avenue, who have been spending a few weeks at Lake Geneva, returned the first part of last week, and report a very delightful trip.
Miss Alice Shurtleff will leave about Sept. 1 for Henderson, Ky., where she will teach Latin in the Barrett Manual Training high school, one of the largest manual training schools in the state.
Mr. F. A. Buck, 1215 Lake avenue, returned Monday after spending several days in northern Michigan, Mrs. Buck, who accompanied him on this trip, remained there, and expects to visit a few days longer.
Mrs. Charles Dingee and daughters, Margaret and Leonore, returned last Friday from Gladstone, Mich., where they were the guests of Mrs. John D. Couffer at her summer home on Little Bay de Noquet.
The Epworth league of the M. E. church of Wilmette will have a hayrack ride Tuesday evening Sept. 3. They will leave the church at 6 o'clock and drive to a farm west of the village, where they will eat supper, play games and then return home.
Invitations have been issued for the marriage of Miss Helen Lorene Barker, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Milton Reed Barker, of 707 Washington avenue, to William Magee Raiguel. The wedding will be celebrated Wednesday evening, Sept. 11, at the home of the bride's parents.
Dr. and Mrs. Herbert C. West and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. William A. Maynard are the guests of Senator and Mrs. William McLean on their annual motor boat trip this year. The party left Monday for a week's trip down the Illinois river.
The police have been asked to search for M. De Leon, 48 years old, said to be a wealthy lumber contractor from Atlanta, Ga., who disappeared Aug. 9 from the home of Karl D. King, 914 Greenwood avenue, Wilmette. De Leon had in his possession a roll of bills of large denominations. Word of his disappearance was withheld from the police in the belief that he had been called to Saginaw unexpectedly.
A neighborhood picnic was held on the lawn of Mrs. E. J. Palmer, 1635 Lake avenue, Tuesday. The following were present: Mesdames R. J. Burrows, W. D. Matthews, W. C. Reinhold, F. E. Robinson, J. A. Piatt, D. J. Johnstone, M. R. Knox, D. S. Lamb and Calkins of Wilmette, Mrs. Lawrence and Mrs. Terrin of Schermerville, Mrs. Calkins of Chicago and Mrs. Malschaider of Indianapolis. About twenty children romped and frolicked about. Altogether it was a merry party and all enjoyed it immensely.
