A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Meier last Tuesday.
Mr. Michael Balmes of Charles street is seriously ill with heart trouble.
Mr. Paul Nanzig stepped onto a rusty nail last Saturday and severely injured himself.
Mr. Ben Meier of Meier Bros.' Ice company broke a bone in his right wrist last week by overlifting.
The Rev. John Ott left last Sunday for La Crosse, Wis., where he will spend a week's vacation with his parents.
The Rev. Wm. Neistraeter and Very Rev. E. J. Vattman went to Naperville, Ill., last Tuesday to be present at the silver jubilee celebration of Father Schuette.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Doetsch left last Tuesday for their home in California after visiting here seven weeks. They will stop over in Denver on their way home.
The prize winners of the Ladies' Card club which was entertained by Mrs. Henry Hoth last Thursday were Mrs. Paul Bleser, first prize and Mrs. John J. Huerter, second prize.

A surprise party was given last Saturday evening in honor of the sixteenth birthday anniversary of Master Harold Rink at the residence of his parents. Twenty boys and girls were present, among them Miss Helen Schleyer and Clarence Herdrick of Chicago.
Mr. Wm. Thalmann returned Sunday night from Saskatchewan, Canada, where he spent two weeks shooting ducks. He says they are so numerous there that you could kill them with a club. He also shot two wild turkeys and five pelicans, which measured eight feet from tip to tp [sic.].
Six young men from Gross Point had a narrow escape from serious injury last Sunday. They were on their way home in a taxicab, four miles west of here at 11 o'clock at night when the taxi smashed into buggy which was coming towards them without a light. It broke the shafts off the buggy and the horse ran away, but the driver was uninjured. The taxi fell over on its side in the ditch, but the occupants got away with a few scratches.
