Francesca (Frenchie) Persico, 10, a resident of Winnetka and a student at Greeley School, died Sept. 1 at her home.
The cause of death was Neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer. She had been diagnosed at age 3.
“Francesca wasn’t dealt the best card, but she played it fabulously,” said her brother, Frederico. “Through the almost six years in remission, she was a great student; became an artist; a ballet dancer; a volinist; an actress; an entrepreneur (sold lemonade and walked dogs with Izzy); a swimmer and a tennis pro.”
“As I look back I can’t think of her without imagining a smile. Francesca had so much going for her; she could have been anything she wanted.”
Survivors include her mother, Cristina; her brother, Frederico; and sisters Carla and Isabella.
Funeral mass was celebrated Sept. 5 at Sacred Heart and interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Northbrook.
