Roland Edward Nelson, New Trier Pupil, Dies [Heading]
Roland Edward Nelson, 14 years old, a freshman at New Trier High School, died Tuesday morning at his home, 412 Woodlawn avenue, Glencoe, after an illness of 24 days. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nelson, and two sisters, Dorothy May and Barbara Ann. Roland Nelson resided in Winnetka, his birthplace, until four years ago when his parents moved to Glencoe. In the elementary schools, he showed remarkable talent as a cartoonist, and his work appeared in Glencoe school papers. At New Trier he also showed aptitude for athletics. He was intensely active in Sunday school and church work at the First Evangelical church, Winnetka, where funeral services were held Thursday of this week, with the Rev. Melvin M. Sequine officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park.- Featured Link
