Winnetka boy's death is linked to influenza: Luke Melancon, age 2

- Authorities were trying to determine this week if the death of a 2-year-old Winnetka boy, hospitalized Sunday with flu-like symptoms, was caused by influenza.
Luke Melancon, of 255 Poplar St., fell ill Sunday, and was taken early Monday to Evanston Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:01 a.m.
The 2-year-old is survived by his parents, Mark and Kimberly, an infant sibling and a 5-year-old sister who attended kindergarten at Greeley School.
A service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Kenilworth Union Church, 211 Kenilworth Ave., Kenilworth.
