New Trier: Canned food drive sets school record

- Annual canned food drive collected the largest amount of food in school history. Mike Catania's advisory contributed the most by holding fund-raisers throughout the year allowing them to purchase the food; Senior Maggie Crowley placed second overall at the CanAm speed skating competition Nov. 27-30 in Alberta, Canada; Introduction to Business classes created companies led by teacher Rosanna Fanelli, and later sold them, donating any profits to charity; Interact, social group of students who work on local, national and international levels, participated in several fund raisers to benefit UNICEF and various other charities. Co-heads this year are Shira Gordon, Sara Gilman and the sponsor is Susan Cohen; National Council for Geographic Education gave award to retired New Trier teacher James F. Marran; Holiday concert by Freshmen will be held December 19th
