- Gerald L. Smith, 78, died July 10, 1999 in Evanston Hospital, photo. Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Laskey Smith on May 6, 1988. Survived by his sons, Stephen S. Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, Kent D. Smith of Glenview, and Todd A. Smith of Chicago; three daughters-in-law, Marcia, Sherry and Cori Smith; six grandchildren; his sister, Alma Iben of Manchester, Iowa; his brother-in-law, Bill Laskey of Crystal Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
