- 2nd Lt. Alfred Beecher Abeles of the Army Air forces has been missing in action over Germany since January 23, his wife, the former Shirley Elling, was notified by offical telegram Sunday night. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred T. Abeles of 726 Ninth street, Wilmette. Entering service in 1943, he received his wings at Williams Field, Chandler, Ariz., [Arizona] in April, 1944, and then married the former Miss Elling on May 29. Mrs. Abeles is now in Wilmette and is living with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Elling of 610 Fourth street.
