Masonic funeral services for William H. MacLean, who died Tuesday night at North Shore hotel, Evanston, will be held this afternoon at 4:00 of the Rosehill chapel. Mr. McLean, who was serving his second term as county commissioner, was one of Wilmette's pioneers. He came to Wilmette in the early '90s and built a home at 1411 Gregory avenue. In 1899 he was elected to the board of trustees. At the end of his term he was elected assessor, which position he held for eight years. In 1908 he was nominated and elected to the state legislature, and after serving two terms he became a state senator. Mr. MacLeanserved on the Wilmette school board. He was instrumental in establishing some of the financial administrative reforms and saving plans for the school system. Aside from his political and civic undertakings he was a lawyer and a well known real estate dealer. According to some of his acquaintances in Wilmette, Mr. McLean was a warm friend of the laboring class. He frequently gave legal advice and legal protection to laborers who came to him, without charging fees. Mr. McLean was a charter member of the A. T. Sherman lodge number 892 of I. O. O. F. of Wilmette, and a member of Wilmette lodge 931 A. F. and A. M.
