- Joan Hughes Bireley, 75, died April 27 in her Wilmette home. Mrs. Bireley was born Oct. 17, 1928 in Evanston. Survivors include three sons, Michael (Polly), Mark (Marian) and Matt (Kelly); three daughters, Margie (Bill), Marybeth (Jim) and Martha (Chris); 21 grandchildren, Ben, Jennifer, Samantha, Meghen, William, John Patrick, Peter, Nick, Katharine, Matt, Emily, Danny, Jack, Casey, Will, George, Danny, Julia, Greer, Meghan and Gavin; two sisters, Kitty (Ben) Wells and Bobbie (Dave) Heldt; and her brother-in-law, Robert L. Bireley. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and John Hughes, her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Dave Fallon; and her sister-in-law, Barbara A. Bireley. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 30 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Wilmette. Interment was at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
