- Marcella (nee Powers) Masterson, 86, died June 15 in Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge.
Mrs. Masterson was born June 17, 1917 in Waukegan. Hackney's restaurant was owned by Jack and Bebe Hackney, an aunt and uncle of Mrs. Masterson's late husband, James E.
The restaurants continue today as a family-owned and operated business with Marcella and James Masterson's sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and grandchildren all working in the family business.
Survivors include four daughters, Elizabeth (Dennis) Hebson, Mary (the late Patrick) Welch, Jane (William) Blair and Sara (Mokrane) Landri, all of Glenview; three sons, James E. Jr. (Elaine) of Wheeling, Edward J. (Donna) of Barrington and Michael P. (Teresa) of Palos Park; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her brother, John (Pat) Powers of Arlington Heights.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Masterson was preceded in death by three sisters, Kathleen Johnson, Marian Braithwaithe and Henrietta Doetsch.
A requiem Mass was celebrated Saturday, June 19, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Glenview. Interment was in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
