- A tax-relief measure signed into law July 12 will reduce taxes for homeowners in the north and northwest suburbs now undergoing a reassessment. The law caps the yearly increase in the value that is used to calculate tax bills at 7 percent. Homeowners with more expensive homes will see only partial relief.
