- Peter Steffens, who was born in a log cabin near the present intersection of Central Park and Wilmette avenues 83 years ago, passed away on Monday afternoon at this home, 1515 Wilmette avenue, Wilmette. His widow, who survives, was born in a former house on the site of their present residence. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery. Besides his widow, he is survived by nine children: Mrs. Dan Feltman, Mrs. Kate Schopen, Mrs. Emma Boll, Mrs. Barbara Brautigam, Mrs. Frank Zeutschl, Sergeant Joseph Steffens of the Wilmette police force, George, John, and Peter Jr.
