- John M. Steffens, 84, of 1617 Highland Av., Wilmette, died Aug. 1 in his home. Born in Grosse Point, now the western portion of Wilmette, he lived in the village alll his life. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Harry Pearson, 1815 Walnut Av., Wilmette, and Mrs. Albert D. Daescher of Chicago; three sons, Robert of Skokie, Raymond of Arlington Heights, and Clarence of La Mesa, Cal; a sister, Mrs. Mary Park of Evanston; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Techny.
