Pastor Installed At New Lutheran Church [Rev. A. O. Soholm]

Wilmette's newest religious organization, the Wilmette ENglish Lutheran church, advanced another step in its important work in the village Sunday, June 19, when the Rev. A. O. Soholm, the leading figure in its development, was installed as permanent pastor of the congregation. Installation ceremonies were conducted at the Wilmette Woman's club, temporary church headquarters, by Dr. Whitaker, president of the Chicago Lutheran Seminary and head of the United Lutheran Churches of America. Dr. Whitaker also preached the installation sermon. Rev. Soholm came to Wilmette early last winter at the call of leading Chicago and Wilmette church people interested in establishing a church unit in the local field. Cocming from Superior, Wis., where he had concluded with notable success a similar task of organization, Rev. Soholm conducted a thorough survey and canvass of the local field with the result that early this spring a charter membership was closed with 39 members on theroll. Within a few weeks after his arrival, Rev. Soholm found sufficient interest in the village to begin church services at the Wilmette Woman's Club. Since that time a flourishing Sunday school has been established and a Woman's society organized and placed on an efficient basis. The church was formally organized about six weeks ago and is well on the way to permanent sucess under the direction o fa church Council and expert church officers. Rev. Soholm and his family reside at 1233 Elmwood Avenue.
