- Pete Miller's restaurant in Evanston was setting for the Jazz Champagne Brunch April 9 to benefit the Evanston-based Forrest E. Powell Foundation. The foundation has a mission of providing financial assistance for those lacking the means necessary to pursue vocational/technical training. The foundation extablished by Hecky Powell of Evanston in honor of his father, also recognizes those who have modeled an exemplary work ethic in their lives. This year Joe Martin of Evanston High School was the recipient of the award. The event raised more than $8,000 for the foundation.
