Wilmette resident Robert Remini, author of "The House: The History of the U.S. House of Representatives," is professor emeritus of history at the University of Illinois at Chicago, was named historian for the House of Representatives in 2005.

Beth Gorr of Winnetka is the author of "Bear Memories: The Chicago-Green Bay Rivalry." Gorr writes about the NFL for The Bear Report.

Truman K. Gibson Jr. with Steve Huntley, is the author of "Knocking Down Barriers: My Fight for Black America." Huntley is a Wilmette resident who edits the Chicago Sun-Times editorial page, co-wrote Gibson's memoir.

James Pomerantz who grew up in Winnetka, has written "Courage To Change The Things I Can," a memoir of Richard "Dick" Wallrath who overcame alcoholism.
