- "Call Northside 777" is based on Joseph Majczek's wrongful imprisonment for murder in 1933. In 1944, in response to an ad for a reward for information, Karin Walsh, the city editor of the Chicago Times newspaper, opened an investigation of the crime resulting in the exoneration of Majczek. Walsh died in 1965 at the age of 51. His daughter, Sheila Walsh Richard, formerly of Wilmette said Walsh made an appearance in the film "Call Northside 777" which starred James Stewart and, Lee J.
