- Interviews with local residents who have had to cope with some of the coldest weather in several years. William Bagel of the Wilmette Public Works Department had to repair a broken water main. Supervisor, Brad Enright, explains that Bill Bagel was encrusted with ice during the job. Mike Dempsey pumps gas at Forrest's Service Station, 1201 Green Bay Road. Comments by his boss, Jim Todd, who explains that cold weather has been freezing tires and causing flats. Wilmette resident, John Zender takes public transportation to work, after riding his bicycle to the station. Wilmette schools remain in session in spite of the cold. Wilmette youths Ashley Sutker, 15, and her boyfriend Riley Hanson, 14, had to walk part of the way home on a recent day. Bella Boguslavski of Chantilly Lace, 1144 Central Ave., says business is slow with the cold weather.
