- Daniel Biss, Evanston Democrat, won the seat for 17th District Illinois House, defeating Hamilton Chang of Wilmette. The district had been represented since 1996 by Republican Beth Coulson until she left office to run, unsuccessfully, for the 10th Congressional District.
