William A. Gardner of Evanston was Thursday re-elected president of the Chicago & Northwestern railroad. Six directors, whose terms had expired, were re-elected at this annual meeting of the stockholders of the company. At a meeting of the directors all the officers were re-elected. At the stockholders' meeting the terms of the purchase of the St. Paul Eastern grand Trunk railway, a proprietary company, whose capital stock is owned by the Northwestern road, were approved. This line extends from Clintonville to Oconto, Wis. More than two-thirds of the outstanding capital stock of the company was represented at the meeting of the stockholders.
The Directors: Directors re-elected for a term of three years include the following: Chauncey M. Depew, James C. Fargo, Henry C. Frick, David P. Kimball, John V. Farwell and Homer A. Miller.
Officers re-elected include the following: Chairman - Marvin Hughitt. President - William A. Gardner. Vice-president - Samuel A. Lynde. Secretary - John D. Caldwell. Treasurer - Milton V. Van Zandt. Assistant Secretaries - Samuel A. Lynde, Milton B. Van Zandt, Barret Conway. Assistant Secretary and Assistant Treasurer - Charles L. Lowe. Assistant Treasurer and Assistant Secretary - Arthur S. Pierce.
The executive committee of the company comprises W. K. Vanderbilt, Chauncey M. Depew, marvin Hughitt, David P. Kimball, James C. Fargo, Henry C. Frick, Oliver Ames and William A. Gardner.
Mr. Ames. Mr. Kimball, Mr. Hughitt, President Gardner and a number of other officers of the company left Chicago on a special train yesterday afternoon for a trip over the Northwestern lines.
